Lauren has spent the last decade studying the medicinal art of yoga and movement as a means of healing mental, emotional, and physical dis-ease with a sincere intention of building a community around traumatic experiences. Aside from her love for teaching and serving through yoga, this path was a steppingstone into other healing therapies such as Reiki, Yoga Nidra, Critical Alignment Therapy (CAT), Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), EMDR Therapy, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP).
Movement, yoga, and Lauren’s body-centered, trauma-informed offering Liberate: A Method to Somatic Freedom, have been built on the notion that you can find freedom within struggle and pain. As a Certified Clinical Counsellor and Traumatologist, Lauren’s experience lies in working with C-PTDS, PTSD, ADHA, infidelity and relational issues, chronic pain, and somatization. Her approach is person-centered, meaning the client ultimately holds the answers to their own therapeutic goals, and together, they work to overcome the obstacles standing in the way.
She uses a combination of cognitive, body-centered, and trauma-informed modalities which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Jungian Psychology. Expressive art interventions that use physical movement, dance, drawing, and voice may also be incorporated.
“I acknowledge that the path to healing can be, at the best of times, uncomfortable and commend your courage in taking the first step. Through the evolution of my own personal struggles into a mental health practitioner, I came to recognize that all emotions need to be moved. By getting to know our inner conflict through the willingness and permission to let it bubble to the surface, the emotions that once hindered us may become the same emotions that set us free.”
